India is set to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train on January 17, operating between Howrah, West Bengal, and Guwahati (Kamakhya), Assam. Developed using ICF technology by BEML, this semi-high-speed train will cover approximately 958-966 km in about 14 hours, reducing travel time by around three to six hours compared to existing services. The 16-coach train accommodates 823 passengers and offers confirmed ticket bookings only, available online and offline. The inaugural run will include multiple scheduled stops along the route.
