India has abolished the mandatory requirement to probate a Will, simplifying inheritance and asset transmission. This reform, part of the Repealing and Amending Act, 2025, aims to reduce court delays and legal fees for heirs. A valid Will can now be acted upon directly by beneficiaries and institutions without court validation, making estate planning more accessible and succession faster. While probate was a procedural requirement, its removal does not eliminate the possibility of Will-related disputes.
