Bangladesh to Import Additional 45,000 Tons of Diesel from India by April

Bangladesh plans to import an additional 45,000 tons of diesel from India by April, with 5,000 tons recently received and another 5,000 tons expected mid-March, according to Md. Murshed Hossain Azad of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. The imports are facilitated through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline, inaugurated in March 2023 by the then Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi. Diesel supply via this pipeline had been halted by the previous interim government but resumed recently under the current administration after completing necessary formalities.
