Mauritius plans to import petroleum products from India under a government-to-government (G2G) deal, reviving a previous arrangement involving the Mangalore oil refinery, according to Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful. The country, which imports refined petroleum worth about USD 1.3 billion annually, is considering payments in rupees to make the deal more attractive. Ramful noted that the Middle East crisis could impact Mauritius's economy, including tourism and food supply, while ties with India are also expanding in maritime security and technology.
