India's first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, built by BEML using ICF technology, is slated to launch this month on the Howrah-Guwahati route. Designed for speeds up to 180 kmph, each coach is estimated to cost between Rs 8 to Rs 8.5 crore, which is reportedly less than metro coaches. The national transporter plans to introduce 12 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains by 2026.
