India and the United States have postponed the scheduled meeting of their chief negotiators, originally set for February 23 in Washington, to finalise the interim trade pact. The delay follows the US Supreme Court ruling that invalidated President Trump's sweeping tariffs imposed under emergency powers. Subsequently, Trump announced new global tariffs, raising them from 10 to 15 per cent. Both countries agreed to reschedule the talks after assessing these developments. The interim deal aims to reduce US tariffs on Indian goods, with a possible implementation in April 2026.
