NHAI Launches Pilot for Real-Time Stray Cattle Alerts on Select Highways

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a pilot project to issue real-time alerts to motorists on the Jaipur-Agra and Jaipur-Rewari highways, identified as high-risk for stray cattle-related accidents. Developed in partnership with Reliance Jio, the system sends location-based warnings about 10 km before cattle-prone zones via Flash SMS and voice alerts in Hindi. The initiative aims to enhance driver awareness, especially during low visibility, with repeat alerts limited to avoid fatigue. NHAI will evaluate the pilot before considering wider implementation.
