The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a Rs 22.2 crore fine on IndiGo following widespread flight disruptions between December 3-5, 2025, which caused over 3 lakh passengers to be stranded. A four-member committee found that over-optimisation of crew and aircraft utilisation, inadequate planning, weak regulatory preparedness, and management lapses led to cancellations of 2,507 flights and delays of 1,852. DGCA issued warnings to senior executives, directed removal of a senior VP, and mandated a Rs 50 crore bank guarantee to ensure compliance and systemic reforms. IndiGo acknowledged the findings and committed to taking appropriate corrective measures.
