Imphal Airport Expands with New Cargo Terminal and Passenger Facilities
Imphal International Airport in Manipur is undergoing significant expansion, including a new integrated cargo terminal and a larger passenger terminal, aiming to become the Northeast's second busiest airport after Guwahati. The airport now handles over 16 scheduled arrivals and departures daily, with around 3,000 passengers each way, up from fewer than 500 in 2014. The new terminal will feature modern facilities and increased capacity, while the cargo hub is expected to boost trade by tripling monthly cargo volume from 500 to 1,500 metric tonnes.
