India is exploring new trade strategies, including potential Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the European Union and the US in early 2026. While India has FTAs with most members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), it notably excluded China. A suggestion has emerged for India to engage with RCEP members excluding China, offering trade benefits without direct dealings with China. However, this idea is considered premature, given India's past withdrawal from RCEP due to concerns over Chinese imports and trade deficits.
