Banks across India are open on Saturday, January 3rd, as it is the first Saturday of the month. Reserve Bank of India rules stipulate that banks operate on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. An exception exists in Uttar Pradesh, where banks are closed today to observe the birthday of Hazrat Ali.
