India's domestic air passenger traffic increased by 4.36% year-on-year to 15.25 million in January 2026, according to DGCA data. IndiGo regained market share to 63.6%, flying 9.7 million passengers, while Air India Group's share declined to 26.5%. Akasa Air recorded the highest passenger load factor at 93.2%, followed by IndiGo at 87.7%. The overall cancellation rate was 1.44%, with IndiGo achieving the best on-time performance of 70.9% across six major metro airports.
