Pune Metro has implemented a new rule starting March 3, 2026, where Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at all stations will remain closed by default and open only after passengers scan a valid ticket or travel pass. This change aims to improve crowd management and prevent ticketless travel. Previously, gates stayed open with a green light indicating a valid scan. In February, Pune Metro reported revenue of ₹8.22 crore and a ridership of 53.24 lakh, with the Ramwadi-Vanaz line generating higher figures than the PCMC-Swargate line.
