Between January 1 and November 30, 2025, Indian Railways transported 693.25 crore passengers. For the full financial year 2024-25, the total ridership reached 715 crore, with 81 crore in reserved classes and 634 crore in unreserved travel, including suburban services. This represents an increase from previous financial years, with over 43,000 special train services operated to manage high demand during festivals and major events like the Maha Kumbh and Holi.
