India's semiconductor sector is experiencing contrasting hiring trends. While companies like Micron, AMD, and Applied Materials face a strong demand for specialised talent in chip design, verification, AI accelerators, and system-level engineering, supply remains limited. Concurrently, semiconductor design Global Capability Centres (GCCs) saw a hiring slowdown through most of 2025, with a cautious rebound in the final quarter. Government initiatives, including a Rs 1,000 crore allocation for the India Semiconductor Mission's second phase, aim to bolster capabilities amid evolving industry needs.
