Northern Railways has successfully transported over 20,000 tons of apples from Kashmir via a new cargo service since September 15, marking a significant achievement for fruit growers. This initiative, alongside the transport of cement, automobiles, and foodgrains, aims to mitigate losses caused by National Highway disruptions. The introduction of rail transport provides a crucial alternative to trucks for both inbound and outbound goods, supporting Kashmir's fruit trade, which contributes 8% to the region's GDP.
