Pakistan's oldest brewery, Murree Brewery, has received permission to export alcohol for the first time in nearly 50 years, a move aimed at boosting the country's foreign exchange earnings amidst economic pressure. Founded in 1860, the brewery faced a 50-year ban on exports. The company's chief executive, Isphanyar Bhandara, described securing the license as a long-sought achievement. Alcohol sales in Pakistan are restricted to non-Muslim minorities and foreigners, with illegal production being a persistent issue.
