India has permitted limited exports of organic sugar, capping shipments at 50,000 tonnes annually. This move aims to promote premium agri-exports while maintaining control over domestic sugar supplies. The decision partially lifts restrictions imposed in October 2023, differentiating between regulated bulk sugar and the niche organic segment which has steady demand in international markets. The export cap allows producers access to global markets without impacting domestic availability and prices.
