Central Railway to Launch 14 AC Local Trains on Mumbai Harbour Line from January 26

Central Railway will introduce 14 new air-conditioned (AC) local trains on Mumbai's Harbour line between CSMT and Panvel starting January 26, 2026. These AC services will replace existing non-AC trains, maintaining the total number of suburban services at 1,820. The move responds to rising passenger demand for more comfortable travel, with seven services each in the Up and Down directions operating Monday to Saturday. AC trains were previously withdrawn from this line in 2022 due to low ridership and opposition but are now being reinstated.
