The Indian government has approved a 10.32% increase in commission rates for arthiyas (commission agents) and cooperative societies involved in wheat and paddy procurement, effective from the 2026-27 Rabi marketing season. Rates for arthiyas in Punjab and Haryana will rise to Rs 50.75 per quintal for wheat and Rs 50.61 for paddy, with similar increases in Rajasthan. The revision follows recommendations from a sub-committee and aims to maintain procurement efficiency, though it may raise the food subsidy cost.
