EPFO to Enable Direct Provident Fund Withdrawals via UPI by April 2026

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) plans to enable subscribers to withdraw a substantial portion of their provident fund directly to their bank accounts via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) by April 2026. This system aims to simplify and speed up withdrawals by eliminating the need for formal claims, while retaining a part of the balance to ensure retirement security. The initiative, benefiting around eight crore members, is undergoing software refinements for smooth implementation.
