Australia will grant Indian exports 100% duty-free access to its market starting January 1, 2026, announced Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. This significant development marks the third anniversary of the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), which has already boosted Indian exports by 8% in 2024-25. The move is expected to create new opportunities for labor-intensive sectors, manufacturing, and agriculture, with notable gains already seen in chemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and gems and jewelry. Negotiations for a broader Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement are ongoing.
