India's power distribution companies (discoms) reported a collective profit after tax of Rs 2,701 crore in FY25, reversing losses of Rs 25,553 crore in FY24 and Rs 67,962 crore in FY14. This turnaround is attributed to reforms such as the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, improved payment discipline, and reduced Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT C) losses from 22.62% in FY14 to 15.04% in FY25. The government emphasizes continued reforms to sustain financial health and support economic growth.
