Chinese Smartphone Sales Decline in India Amid Shift to Premium Devices

Sales of Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme declined in India for the first time in the last fiscal year, driven by reduced demand in the entry- to mid-level segments as consumers shift towards premium devices. This led to a 4.5% revenue drop for the nine largest Chinese electronics firms in India, after a previous 42% growth. Despite this, Chinese brands maintain a dominant market share by volume. Rising component costs have also contributed to higher smartphone prices.
