A severe shortage of propane gas, essential for powering boilers in pharmaceutical manufacturing, has led to partial or full shutdowns in key Indian hubs including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. This disruption threatens the production of critical medicines such as paracetamol, vitamins, hormones, and antibiotics. Industry experts warn that nearly 200 manufacturers could halt operations within 7-10 days, potentially causing medicine shortages amid rising gas prices and supply challenges linked to disrupted LNG imports.
