The Delhi High Court has rebuked Meta for a lack of initiative in accepting monetary damages awarded in a 2022 trademark infringement case. Meta had secured an injunction against a Bengaluru bakery, Ehrlich Foods and Beverages Pvt. Ltd., for using marks like 'FACEBAKE' and 'FACECAKE' similar to Meta's 'FACEBOOK' trademark. The court noted the bakery repeatedly requested Meta's bank details to pay the awarded Rs 50,000 damages and Rs 2 lakh legal costs, which Meta failed to provide until recently.
