
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Director General Chandrajit Banerjee stated that a US free trade agreement alone is insufficient for India's long-term trade and export growth. He expressed hope for a broader strategic push in 2026, including concluding negotiations with the European Union and effectively implementing existing agreements. Banerjee also noted India's strong macroeconomic performance in 2025, with GDP growth exceeding 8 percent, resilient exports, and rising business confidence, indicating sustained economic strength.
