Bharat Taxi, a new cooperative-based ride-hailing service, has launched in India as an alternative to private aggregators like Ola and Uber. Backed by major cooperative organizations and the Ministry of Cooperation, it aims to offer fairer terms for drivers and transparent pricing for passengers. Drivers retain a larger share of revenue and pay a membership fee, with potential profit sharing. The service, run by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd., began pilot operations in Delhi and plans a wider rollout in early 2026, featuring real-time tracking and 24/7 customer support.
