India's sugar production increased by 23.43% to 11.83 million tonnes during October-December of the 2025-26 season, according to the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Ltd (NFCSF). This surge is attributed to a significant rise in output from Maharashtra, which saw a 63% increase. Uttar Pradesh, the largest producer, also reported higher production. The NFCSF projects a total output of 31.5 million tonnes for the season, excluding ethanol diversion.
