The Indian government launched Bharat Taxi, a cooperative ride-hailing platform aiming to compete with private players like Ola and Uber. Drivers can become co-owners by investing Rs 500, gaining profit shares and board representation. The model allocates 80% of earnings to drivers and 20% to operational costs, ensuring minimum income protection. Currently active in Delhi-NCR and Rajkot, Bharat Taxi plans to expand nationwide, targeting around 15 million drivers over two years, inspired by the cooperative success of Amul.
