Southern Railway Completes Yard Remodeling at Arakkonam and Tirunelveli Junctions
Southern Railway has completed major yard remodeling projects at Arakkonam and Tirunelveli junctions in Tamil Nadu to enhance train operations. The Rs 97-crore Arakkonam upgrade includes 58 new points, extended platforms for 24-coach trains, and a new Electronic Interlocking system, making it the largest yard in Southern Railway. At Tirunelveli, an additional platform and modern signalling have enabled seamless double-line operations, increased train speeds, and improved safety and efficiency on the Madurai-Nagercoil section.
