Mysuru Railway Station is undergoing a significant upgrade costing nearly Rs 493 crore to expand its coaching terminal capacity. The project aims to add five new platforms, increasing the station's current six platforms and doubling passenger handling capacity by 2030. This expansion, part of a nationwide Indian Railways initiative, involves demolishing old railway quarters to make space for new infrastructure, including pit lines and stabling facilities. The upgrade is expected to be completed by 2028, enhancing the station's ability to manage more long-distance and suburban trains.
