India Plans Toll Collection Growth and Digital Payment Reforms by FY27

India's national highway toll collections are projected to surpass Rs 1 trillion by FY27, driven by increased traffic, economic growth, and technological upgrades. The government plans to implement a satellite-based Multi-Lane Free Flow system by late 2026 to enhance efficiency and reduce leakages. Reforms in toll payments include a reduced penalty for UPI transactions, promoting digital payments alongside FASTag, which now covers nearly all vehicles, improving travel speed and reducing disputes at toll plazas.
