The Indian government has exempted 14 specialized copper products from the Copper Products (Quality Control) Order for one year. This exemption, effective from April 26, 2024, applies to specific end-users and uses, including those in the automotive, electrical, and consumer industries. The decision was made because these specialized products are not available domestically in adequate quantity or required quality. Importers must inform the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and submit a plan for indigenization.
