India and Canada Sign $1.9 Billion Uranium Supply Deal to Boost Nuclear Energy Cooperation

India and Canada have signed a $1.9 billion (approximately $2.6 billion CAD) uranium supply agreement to support India's expanding nuclear energy program from 2027 to 2035. The deal, announced during Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to New Delhi, aims to secure stable uranium supplies for India's civilian reactors amid efforts to increase nuclear capacity and diversify energy sources. Alongside this, both countries agreed on cooperation in critical minerals, renewable energy, and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement targeting increased bilateral trade by 2030.
