
India's central government has designated core customs and indirect tax digital platforms, including ICEGATE, ECCS, and ACES-GST, as "critical information infrastructure" under the IT Act. This move enhances cybersecurity, restricts system access to authorized users, and aligns these platforms with national sensitive infrastructure like power grids and financial systems. Unauthorized access will now face criminal penalties under the Information Technology Act, with access tightly controlled by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
