India's wheat production for the 2025-26 crop year is projected to increase by 2.29% to 120.65 million tonnes, despite localized damage from unseasonal rains and hailstorms, according to government data. This estimate aligns with the agriculture ministry's earlier forecast of 120.21 million tonnes and surpasses the 117.94 million tonnes recorded in 2024-25. Total foodgrain production is also expected to rise to 376.55 million tonnes from 357.73 million tonnes the previous year.
