Odisha Targets 5% Contribution to National GDP by 2047 Through Blue Economy

Odisha aims to contribute 5% to India's GDP by 2047, focusing on fisheries, maritime infrastructure, coastal tourism, and marine biotechnology. Chief Secretary Anu Garg outlined the state's vision for a developed Odisha by 2036, highlighting its 575 km coastline and economic potential. Union Secretary Ravichandran noted that over 95% of the deep ocean remains unexplored, presenting opportunities and challenges like climate impacts. International cooperation and sustainable practices were emphasized by officials and the Timor-Leste ambassador during a global Blue Economy summit.
