India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to announce a significant increase in funding for the Digital Agriculture Mission in the upcoming budget. The mission, launched with ₹2,817 crore until FY26, aims to create a standardized digital public infrastructure for agriculture, including a farmers' registry (AgriStack) linked to land records and plot-wise crop data. This expansion seeks to enhance transparency in crop estimation, improve welfare scheme delivery, and potentially integrate with programs like PM-Kisan and PM-Fasal Bima Yojana.
