The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered a detailed investigation into IndiGo for allegedly abusing its dominant market position following mass flight cancellations in December 2025. IndiGo cancelled over 4,500 flights, affecting nearly one million passengers and causing a surge in airfares. The CCI noted that these cancellations, constituting a significant portion of IndiGo's scheduled capacity, created an artificial scarcity, limiting consumer access during peak demand. IndiGo is reviewing the order and will respond after detailed examination. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also penalized IndiGo for operational lapses linked to pilot rest norms.
