
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited India for a two-day official trip, engaging with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. The visit marked 25 years of Indo-German strategic partnership and 75 years of diplomatic relations. Merz paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, participated in the International Kite Festival, and toured the Bosch campus and IISc nanoscience center. Both countries signed 27 MoUs covering green energy, technology, defence, and trade, with Germany pledging €1.24 billion for sustainable development. Merz emphasized deepening defence cooperation and addressing global protectionism challenges.
