DGCA Revises Air Ticket Refund Rules with 48-Hour Free Cancellation Window

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has revised air ticket refund norms, introducing a 48-hour 'look-in' period allowing passengers to cancel or amend bookings without extra charges, subject to conditions. This applies only to tickets booked directly through airlines with departures at least seven days (domestic) or 15 days (international) away. Airlines must also correct name errors free within 24 hours of booking and complete refunds within 14 working days, including for tickets bought via agents. Changes address past refund delays and include provisions for medical emergency cancellations. The rules take effect from March 26, 2026.
