FPIs Invest in India's Primary Markets Despite Secondary Market Sales

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have continued to invest in India's primary markets, despite significant net sales in the secondary market this year. This trend, attributed to confidence in India's long-term growth prospects, has seen FPIs purchase ₹73,749 crore in IPOs this year, the second-highest on record. Over the past 11 years, FPIs have been net buyers of Indian shares, with primary market purchases offsetting secondary market sales, totaling ₹2.44 trillion in net buying.
