
VO Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, plans to invest Rs 15,000 crore in its Outer Harbour project to enhance cargo handling capacity by 4 million tonnes per annum by 2030. This investment complements an additional Rs 1,500 crore allocated for infrastructure upgrades and new technologies. The project aims to establish the port as a major transhipment hub in southern India, competing with international ports in Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Indonesia, aligning with the government's maritime vision.
