India's automobile retail sales surged 25.62% year-on-year in February 2026, reaching a record 2.41 million units, driven by strong demand across two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, and tractors. The growth extended momentum following GST 2.0 reforms, with rural markets showing particularly robust increases. Wholesale volumes also saw double-digit growth, supported by new model launches and positive consumer sentiment. Construction equipment was the only segment to decline slightly. Dealer sentiment remains optimistic for March.
