The Indian government has allowed limited exports of wheat flour and related products, including atta, maida, and semolina, up to 500,000 metric tonnes under strict conditions despite the broader export ban remaining in place. Export authorisations will be issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) through an online application process starting January 21, 2026. Eligible exporters include flour mills, merchant exporters with manufacturer ties, and special economic units. Authorisations will be valid for six months, with extensions considered case-by-case. This move follows expectations of a record wheat harvest exceeding 115 million tonnes in 2026.
