India's oilmeal exports dropped 40% in December to 2.40 lakh tonnes from 3.98 lakh tonnes a year earlier, mainly due to a sharp decline in soyabean meal shipments, the Solvent Extractors Association of India (SEA) reported. Rapeseed, castorseed, and groundnut meal exports also fell, while rice bran extraction exports surged. For April-December, total oilmeal exports declined 6%. Factors include reduced rapeseed crushing, rising global prices, and weaker demand from livestock feed makers preferring alternative products. Major importers include China, South Korea, Bangladesh, and Germany.
