U.S. Offers Reliable Energy Supply to Asia-Pacific Amid West Asia Conflict

U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated that the United States can provide reliable energy supplies to the Asia-Pacific region amid disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran. The war has severely impacted oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital transit route for Asia. Burgum highlighted the U.S. 'energy dominance' policy aimed at ensuring secure and affordable energy for domestic and allied needs. The Tokyo forum, involving 17 countries including Japan, South Korea, and Thailand, focuses on energy and critical mineral supply agreements to reduce dependence on China, with expected deals worth at least $30 billion.
