India is developing an exporter performance index, tracking Importer Exporter Codes (IECs) over five years to drive data-driven export promotion and market diversification. The government has moved away from export subsidies under its New Trade Policy, aligning with global rules. Instead, it will focus on duty remission mechanisms to relieve exports of domestic taxes. Reforms for Special Economic Zones are also underway. Policy measures are intended to address long-term exporter challenges rather than solely reacting to external trade actions.
