Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a state-run refiner in Karnataka operating a 500,000-barrel-per-day refinery, declared force majeure on all gasoline export cargoes for March and April due to disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict. The conflict has severely affected crude oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route. MRPL exports about 40% of its refined fuel output. India is seeking alternative crude oil sources amid these disruptions and maintains crude and fuel inventories to manage supply.
